The handmade white linen pillow is filled with chalk dust. It is bedded on clunch tiles, a hard compressed chalk formed by sedimentation. The transition from chalk dust to chalk clunch suggests the blurring of conscious thought, over time and during sleep. Do thoughts become sedimented as in clunch, or do they blow around as chalk dust? Where are the boundaries? This work invites the viewer to contemplate whether thoughts and ideas can be laid to rest.
